The location is in the center of everything in Valletta making it a perfect base to see all of the sites nearby. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated. The room was spectacular! The decorations, the bed, the balcony, all the essentials supplied, the bathroom.I can keep going and going on all of the wonderful things here. From the moment Kelton opened the door to our room we were in awe. We could not have been luckier to have chosen this hotel and to have had the experience we had there. We just returned from spending 4 days in Malta and stayed at the Saint John. Staying at the Saint John turned out to be an amazing treat that made my mom's birthday celebration extra special. We weren't sure what Malta had in store for us on a trip to celebrate my mom's birthday. On another day when we also needed help with other arrangements, the staff at Saint John was there again to help. When I reached out for his help, he was there to save the day. I'd tried to book myself but hadn't been successful. Kelton was also instrumental in helping with our transportation from the airport and then coordinating tours through the car service company they work with (Prestige Cabs-Also HIGHLY recommended and ask to get Valentine if you do personalized tours). The food (breakfast at the Cheeky Monkey Gastropub next door) was DELICIOUS! The service at breakfast was perfect: warm, friendly and attentive - thank you Jessica. We just returned from spending 4 days in Malta and stayed at the Saint John. Breakfast is lovely: three tiered stands of croissants, ham and cheeses, fresh fruits, yoghurts and eggs to order. The concierge and front desk staff are fabulous - thank you Rizwin, A special mention to Paul, the service manager for the breakfast team who ensured our table was waiting for us every morning. The staff were fabulous and I cannot say enough to thank them for their kindness, hospitality and willingness to ensure our stay was perfect. Also, water from the shower would go onto the floor as the glass screen covered only the front of the bath and the small bath foot mat provided was insufficient to mop up the excess water. Two small comments: the bath would benefit from a non-slip mat - showers in bath tubs can get slippery. For a quieter night, consider a room to the back of the hotel. We slightly missed a view, but it is important to mention that a street facing room may not be ideal in Valletta: the streets are narrow and busy, there are multiple restaurants and bars, and people walking home late at night. The room was well furnished, and well appointed with iron, ironing board, coffee machine, kettle and a good stock of shampoos, toiletries, robes, slippers, even a shoe horn. We stayed in a room facing the central courtyard. The hotel is on Merchants street, which runs from the city gate down to St Elmo's battery. Valletta is small, the streets intimate and bustling with tourists. The walled city of Valletta is a world heritage site, and if you enjoy history, you will want to stay close to the main museums and in the heart of the city built by the Knights of St John in 1565. The Saint John is an annex of the AX Privilege in Valletta, perfectly situated in the heart of the capital city. Malta is a fabulous country the people are warm and welcoming and it is a great place to escape dreary winter weather.
